The Mets blew a seven run lead to go to extra innings and lose to the Phillies. Pedro Martinez didn’t have a good game at all giving up five runs over five innings, all in the fourth and fifth innings. Scott Schoenweiss gave up the game in the 13th on a sacrifice fly by Chris Coste to score Shane Victorino, a devastating loss.

The Mets had monster offensive games by Damion Easley (4 hits) and Fernando Tatis (4 RBI’s).

So the Mets lose a five hour game and the NL East lead at the same time. Ugly.

  1. if i hadn’t already conditioned myself for bullpen meltdowns. i would be sleepless after this game!

  2. TD says:

Same here. I shut it off when Schneider couldn’t handle the throw from Easley last night. The outcome was predictable at that point.
