Poll Results: Randolph Is The Biggest Problem

The Mets Report latest reader poll results are in. Thank you to those that participated.

The question was “What is the biggest problem for the Mets this season?”. The results are:

30%- Manager

26%- Hitting

19%- Bullpen

11%- Fans booing

11%- Starting pitchers

4%- Front office

0%- Media

The majority of the respondents answered that the manager and hitting are the biggest problems. There’s plenty of talk about Willie Randolph being on the hot seat. But I don’t hear any talk about hitting coach Howard Johnson being in trouble. Maybe Johnson is getting a pass because he’s a former Met.

It’s also noteworthy that the media received no votes. Randolph made it clear that he thinks SNY’s coverage is a big problem. So we have a major disconnect between Randolph and the fans on that point.

Reader Poll: Last Day To Vote

Today is the last day of voting for the current reader poll. The question is: What is the Mets biggest problem this season?

It’s clear that the Mets have many problems right now, but I want to know what you think is their biggest. There’s been a big surge in readers voting for “Manager” over the last couple of days. That’s not a surprise.

Reader Poll Results- Carlos Delgado Verdict

The latest reader poll results are final. The question was: Will Carlos Delgado be on the Mets roster for the entire 2008 season?

The results are very mixed:

Yes- 56%

No- 44%

Clearly, we’re divided as Mets fans on this issue. I’m sure that the “yes” answers have taken into consideration Delgado’s recent improved hitting and contract that far outweighs his abilities. Thus, the difficulty trading or releasing him must be considered.

The “no” answers have to consider that Delgado has been hurting the Mets both offensively and defensively this season. Very little is expected of Delgado defensively, but his weakness in the field becomes more glaring if he’s not hitting… and hitting with power.

We’ll keep an eye on the Delgado situation as the season continues. Maybe we’ll have to re-run this poll when we get closer to the non-waiver and waiver trading deadline. My guess is that Delgado will be the first player put through waivers in August.

Reader Poll: Carlos Delgado Final Day

Today is the last day of the current reader poll. Will Carlos Delgado be on the Mets roster for the entire 2008 season? So far the “yes” voters have it by a wide margin. New Reader Poll- Carlos Delgado

There’s been so much talk about what to do with Carlos Delgado. As I’ve talked about here several times, there aren’t any obvious options right now.

I decided to see if The Mets Report readers think that Carlos Delgado will be on the Mets roster for this whole season. Maybe he’ll be traded or released. Maybe he’ll be at first base all season. We’ll have to see how things play out with Omar Minaya’s patience level.
