New York Mets (33-28) at Baltimore Orioles (17-44) 7:05 pm

Hisanori Takahashi (4-2 3.80) vs Brian Matusz (2-6 5.10)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets try to take the second game of the series tonight behind Takahashi, who’s been horrible in his last two starts. This may be his last start if he can’t get it together tonight. Fernando Tatis may take over third base for the night with David Wright as the DH. Other than one good game against Cleveland on May 15, Matusz really hasn’t pitched well. The Orioles have lost 8 of the 11 games he started this season.

New York Mets (32-28) at Baltimore Orioles (17-43) 7:05 pm

R.A. Dickey (3-0 3.20) vs Jeremy Guthrie (3-6 3.71)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets get three games in Baltimore this weekend against the worst team in baseball. That should help their poor road record (8-18). Dickey has made four starts this season and the Mets have won the last three. His knuckler has been much more effective than I thought it would be. Guthrie has pitched well this season. He’s only been hit hard in a couple out of his 12 starts. He’s a victim of pitching in front of a really bad team.

San Diego Padres (34-24) t New York Mets (31-27) 1:10 pm and 7:10pm

Game 1: Mat Latos (5-4 3.26) vs Johan Santana (4-2 2.76)

Game 2: Jon Garland (6-3 2.68) vs. Jon Niese (2-2 4.28)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are going for their tenth straight home win today against the Padres, and maybe even their eleventh. There are four pitchers going today that are having good seasons so far. It’s a dual admission doubleheader today, so you’ll have to buy tickets for both games.

Preview: Padres at Mets June 9, 2010

San Diego Padres (34-24) t New York Mets (31-27) 7:10 pm

Mat Latos (5-4 3.26) vs Johan Santana (4-2 2.76)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are going for their tenth straight home win tonight against the Padres. Latos has generally pitched well this season but lost to the Phillies in his last start, giving up 3 runs over 5 IP. Santana’s last five starts have been excellent. He’s only given up 4 runs over 36.2 IP during that stretch.

Preview: Padres at Mets June 8, 2010

San Diego Padres (34-23) t New York Mets (30-27) 7:10 pm

Clayton Richard (4-3 2.87) vs Mike Pelfrey (8-1 2.39)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Padres start up a three game series tonight, this time at Citi Field where the Mets are playing extremely well this season. It could be some payback for the Padres who took a series last week in San Diego in dramatic fashion with a walk off grand slam. Richard pitched really well against the Mets in a no-decision going 6 innings and giving up 1 run. Pelfrey got another win last week against the Padres going 8 innings and giving up 1 run. It could be a good pitching match up. The Mets have a new member on their roster tonight too. Jesus Feliciano was called up from Buffalo to replace Omir Santos on the roster. The outfielder was hitting .385 1HR 21 RBI in in 187 AB.

Preview: Marlins at Mets June 6, 2010

Florida Marlins (28-29) t New York Mets (29-27) 1:10 pm

Ricky Nolasco (1-2 4.79) vs Hisanori Takahashi (4-4 4.30)

TV: WPIX   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets have a shot at a sweep today, which would be nice payback for the sweep they suffered in Miami last month. Nolasco has started two games against the Mets this season and the Marlins won both games. His last start against Milwaukee was decent, going 7 IP and giving up 3 ER. Takahashi was putrid in his last start in San Diego giving up 6 ER over 4 IP. If he has another stinker like that he’ll probably find himself back in the bullpen.
