Preview: Mets at Phillies May 2, 2010

New York Mets (14-10)  at Philadelphia Phillies (13-10) 8:05 pm

Johan Santana (3-1 2.08) vs. Jamie Moyer (2-2 5.25)

TV: ESPN   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets can take the series in Philly with a win tonight behind Santana. He’s been outstanding recently, giving up only 1 ER in his last three starts over 19.1 IP. He’s opposed by Moyer who’s gone 6 innings in all four starts this year. The Phillies have lost two of the four games he started.

New York Mets (14-9)  at Philadelphia Phillies (12-10) 3:10 pm

Mike Pelfrey (4-0 0.69) vs. Roy Halladay (4-1 1.80)

TV: Fox   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are going for their ninth straight win today in Philly. But they’re up against, possibly, the best pitcher in baseball. As great as Halladay is, he took a loss in his last start in San Francisco after giving up 5 ER in 7.0 IP. Pelfrey, on the other hand, has been incredible and hasn’t given up a run in his last three starts. I’ll be surprised in Jeff Francoeur plays today after getting hit by a pitch on his left elbow.

New York Mets (13-9)  at Philadelphia Phillies (12-9) 7:05 pm

Jon Niese (0-1 3.68) vs. Kyle Kendrick (0-0 7.71)

TV: WPIX   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are hot! They’ve won seven in a row. The Phillies have lost four of their last six games. Niese has only allowed 1 ER over his last 11 IP over two starts. Kendrick has been rocked in three of his four starts this season giving up 16 ER in 18.2 IP. This is the most anticipated series against the Phillies that we’ve had in several years. The first place Mets are in Philly through Sunday.

Preview: Dodgers at Mets April 28, 2010

Los Angeles Dodgers (8-12) at New York Mets (12-9)  1:10 pm

Josh Towers (0-0 -.–) vs. John Maine (0-1 8.64)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are going for the sweep today against the Dodgers. If successful, it’ll be their second consecutive series sweep. The Dodgers are throwing Towers out there who’s only started 27 games in the last three years between the Yankees and Blue Jays. Maine left his last start after 3.2 IP when he felt pain in his left arm. He really hasn’t pitched well at all this season and could be on the brink of losing his spot in the rotation if he has another poor start.

Preview: Dodgers at Mets April 27, 2010

Los Angeles Dodgers (8-10) at New York Mets (10-9)  4:10 pm

Game 1: Hiroki Kuroda (2-0 2.18) vs. Johan Santana (0-2 3.71)

Game 2: Charlie Haeger (0-2 6.46) vs. Oliver Perez (0-2 3.71)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Dodgers play a single admission double header today. It’s a good day to cut out of work early to see Santana in the first game. He’s only given up 1 ER in his last 13.1 IP and the Mets have won three of the four games he started this season. You never know what to expect from Perez. Although he’s only given up 3 ER in his last 11.1 IP.

Preview: Dodgers at Mets April 26, 2010

Los Angeles Dodgers (8-10) at New York Mets (10-9)  7:10 pm

Hiroki Kuroda (2-0 2.18) vs. Oliver Perez (0-2 3.71)

TV: ESPN, SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Dodgers come to town for a three game series. They’re 5-5 in their last ten and just lost two of three in Washington. The Dodgers have won all three of Kuroda’s starts this season but he’s 0-2 with a 10.45 ERA in career against the Mets. The Mets have lost all three games that Perez started this year but he hasn’t pitched terribly in his last two starts. He’s only given up 3 ER in his last 11.1 IP.

Preview: Braves at Mets April 25, 2010

Atlanta Braves (8-9) at New York Mets (9-9)  8:05 pm

Tommy Hanson (1-1 2.81) vs. Mike Pelfrey (3-0 0.86)

TV: ESPN   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets attempt to put the hammer down on the Braves tonight on national TV and go for the sweep. Pelfrey has been unbelievable this season with 3 wins and 1 save in the four games he’s appeared in. The word is that Henry Blanco will be catching Pelfrey again, even though he started yesterday’s game. Hanson has pitched pretty well so far this season. The Braves won two of three games that he started.
