On Deck- August 11- Pirates at Mets [Game 1]

Pittsburgh Pirates (53-63 Road: 21-37) at New York Mets (62-55 Home: 36-22) 1:10pm

Zach Duke (4-10 5.13) vs. Pedro Martinez (3-3 5.79)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: This is a make up game for a rain out earlier in the season. The Pirates come into New York playing horribly in the worst division in baseball. Their road record is atrocious. Duke has lost six of his last eight starts. Pedro has pitched well in his last three starts. Enjoy the weekday afternoon game.

On Deck- August 10- Marlins at Mets [Game 3]

Florida Marlins (61-56 Road: 28-30) at New York Mets (62-54 Home: 36-21) 1:10pm

Josh Johnson (2-0 3.34) vs. Mike Pelfrey (10-7 3.85)

TV: CW11   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets get a shot at sweeping the Marlins today. Johnson pitched six shutout innings for a win at Philly in his last start. Pelfrey went 6.2 innings for a win against the Padres in his last start. This is a really good pitching match up and a beautiful day for those of you with tickets for the game. Enjoy!

On Deck- August 9- Marlins at Mets [Game 2]

Florida Marlins (61-55 Road: 28-29) at New York Mets (61-54 Home: 35-21) 7:10pm

Scott Olsen (6-6 3.87) vs. Brian Stokes (0-0 0.00)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets bullpen needs to get their act together quickly. Stokes is a Triple-A call up making a spot start. The bullpen needs to be prepared to get through 4+ innings tonight. Olsen has pitched some good games for the Marlins recently but hasn’t won a game since July 19th. With a win today, the Mets could win this important divisional series.

On Deck- August 8- Marlins at Mets [Game 1]

Florida Marlins (61-54 Road: 28-28) at New York Mets (60-54 Home: 34-21) 7:10pm

R. Nolasco (11-6 3.91) vs. Oliver Perez (7-7 4.12)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets get a chance to do some damage in the NL East this weekend against the Marlins. Nolasco has pitched two good games in a row now. Perez took the loss in Houston in his last start but has pitched very well over the last two months.

On Deck- August 7- Padres at Mets [Game 3]

San Diego Padres (44-70 Road: 19-36) at New York Mets (59-54 Home: 33-21) 12:10pm

J. Banks (3-4 3.65) vs. Johan Santana (9-7 2.86)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets need this one to take the series from the lowly Pads. Santana’s been pitching really well over the last three weeks and could use a win. Banks hasn’t lost a game since July 6th.

On Deck- August 6- Padres at Mets [Game 2]

San Diego Padres (43-70 Road: 18-36) at New York Mets (59-53 Home: 33-20) 7:10pm

C. Baek (3-5 5.12) vs. Pedro Martinez (3-2 6.16)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Pedro’s having a terrible, injury plagued season. But the Mets sure could use him to put up a good game with the bullpen struggling. He isn’t known to go deep into games and that could hurt the Mets without any reliable options in the bullpen right now.

On Deck- August 5- Padres at Mets [Game 1]

San Diego Padres (43-69 Road: 18-35) at New York Mets (58-53 Home: 32-20) 7:10pm

Chris Young (4-4 4.12) vs. Mike Pelfrey (9-7 3.91)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The only thing I can say about this is that the Mets owe the Padres a major beating for sweeping a four game series in June in California. Remember the three 2-1 games that the Mets lost there? It’s payback time.
