Preview: Dodgers at Mets April 27, 2010

Los Angeles Dodgers (8-10) at New York Mets (10-9)  4:10 pm

Game 1: Hiroki Kuroda (2-0 2.18) vs. Johan Santana (0-2 3.71)

Game 2: Charlie Haeger (0-2 6.46) vs. Oliver Perez (0-2 3.71)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Dodgers play a single admission double header today. It’s a good day to cut out of work early to see Santana in the first game. He’s only given up 1 ER in his last 13.1 IP and the Mets have won three of the four games he started this season. You never know what to expect from Perez. Although he’s only given up 3 ER in his last 11.1 IP.

The Mets and Dodgers game is rained out tonight at Citi Field. They’ll play two games tomorrow starting at 4:10pm. Get this… It’s a single admission double header. Johan Santana will pitch the first game and Oliver Perez the second.

I think it’s been a while since they’ve played a single admission double header. Let me know in the comments if you know when the last one was.

I have to assume that the recent abundance of empty seats at Citi Field played a part in that decision. Imagine how many empty seats there would be if they were charging for both games.

If you had tickets for tonight you can exchange them for any future game based on availability. Check with the Mets box office (718) 507-TIXX.

Mets 5 – Dodgers 4 July 8, 2009

I know it’s hard to believe, but the Mets actually looked like a Major League team tonight. And Oliver Perez got a win! I could barely believe my eyes. Perez went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and 7 walks. He surely wasn’t great with way too many walks and of 104 pitches, 52 were balls and 52 were strikes. Not good. But it was enough to get the win tonight.

The Mets on offense had 9 hits and 3 walks. The hits were scattered throughout the lineup which was great to see. Even ice cold David Wright was 2 for 4.

The game also featured a highlight play at first base by Daniel Murphy. A ground ball hit the base and bounced away from him, he picked it up and had a back-hand throw to Bobby Parnell to get the runner. It was an amazing play. You’ll definitely see that one on ESPN tonight.

Francisco Rodriguez had a rocky ninth inning but got the save. He gave up a solo homer to Manny Ramirez, then a walk and hit. But he got out of it with a double play.
