Game 6 Preview- In Atlanta 1:05pm SNY

Today’s game is always the most interesting type… coming off a loss. I’m interested in seeing El Duque not allow a loss yesterday to turn into a losing streak today. The weather report for Atlanta says 54 degrees, partly cloudy, with little wind. That’ll be a welcome change from yesterday.

Mike Pelfrey really should be starting this game. I know they left him off the roster because of the abundance of off-days, and Glavine likes to stay on his regimen of pitching every five days. They should have held Hernandez until tomorrow.

Kyle Davies goes for the Braves today. He’s only 23 years old but he was awful for the Braves last year in 14 starts. He was 3-7 with a 8.83 ERA. Yikes! He’s another one these local guys that the Braves seem to love, he’s from Decatur, GA.

Braves 5 Mets 3- First loss of the season

It was a strange game today because it was unusually cold in Atlanta, and the wind was whipping. Glavine didn’t look nearly as sharp as he did in St. Louis. The defense really didn’t look very sharp, Delgado couldn’t even catch the simplest throws to him. The Mets had a little rally going against Wickman in the ninth, but couldn’t quite put it together. The Mets go to 4-1 as do the Braves. Click here for the box score.

Game 4 Recap- Mets 11 Braves 1

The Mets go to 4-0 and the Braves to 3-1. Oliver Perez looks great through seven innings. Maybe Rick Peterson has him headed in the right direction. The hits keep coming for this team. Reyes had two triples… that’s incredible! Hope is still alive for a 162-0 season. Get ready for Glavine and Smoltz tomorrow. That’s the game not to miss in this series.

Mets and Braves in Atlanta- 3 Game Series

Here’s the lineup for the weekend series in Atlanta:

Friday April 6 7:35pm SNY– Oliver Perez against Mark Redman

Saturday April 7 3:55pm FOX– Glavine against Smoltz

Sunday April 8 1:05pm SNY– El Duque against Kyle Davies

Mark Redman is a pretty low level starter. He was with KC last year and went 11-10 with a 5.71 ERA. Not very impressive. His career stats are 64-76 with 4.65 ERA. And he doesn’t have Leo Mazzoni around to help anymore. The Mets should hit Redman hard tonight.

The 2007 NL East Arms Race

After getting swept by the Braves in their opening series, today the Phillies traded cash for Blue Jays pitcher Francisco Rosario. The cash was reported to be $100,000. Rosario is a 26 year old with a 1-2 record and 6.65 ERA last year for the Jays. After both Ryan Madson and Tom Gordon got lit up by the Braves this week, Phillies GM Pat Gillick hit the panic button.
