Mets 5 – Red Sox 3 May 22, 2009

I didn’t get to see the whole game. I had to watch the speed version on TiVo. The Mets offense was pretty consistent and the defense was consistently bad. Three more errors in the field. And it’s hard to believe that the Mets could win a game in which they commit three errors. That’s lucky.

Johan Santana was great… again. He was in trouble a couple of times but got out of it without any major damage. He ended up going 7 innings and giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk.

Ramon Martinez had 2 more errors at shortstop. I like him as a role player, he gets some timely hits including an RBI single in the fourth. But he just can’t pick it at short. He’s way over his head.

  1. Another steller start by Santana… He got himself out of the jams that his teammates put him in…

What is the deal with Wright? He has 7 errors this season now? Yes he has been hitting, but he needs to play better right now…

Is there a thought to move him to the OF? I think he would fair better then Murphy out there…

    1. I think Wright would feel more at home in the outfield than Murphy did… But so would a little leaguer. There’s no way Wright is moving. He has made some errors but he won the Gold Glove last year. Plus he’s the Mets golden boy. They’ll let him play wherever he wants.

      1. Dave I couldnt disagree more! This team is seriously lacking in the OF… Why not move a proven hitter to your weakest position if you can find a infielder like DeRosa?

I think DeRosa would shore up the lineup and improve the overall defense…
