Preview: D-Backs at Mets April 22, 2011

Arizona Diamondbacks (8-9) at New York Mets (6-13) 7:10pm

Joe Saunders  (0-2 6.32) vs. Mike Pelfrey (0-2 9.72)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The D-Backs are playing pretty badly and just got out of the NL West basement by winning a series in Cincinnati. They don’t have much pitching but Justin Upton and Chris Young are both playing really well. Saunders had allowed 9 earned run in his last two starts over 9.2 innings.

Pelfrey has been almost as bad as Saunders allowing 7 earned runs in his last two starts over 10.1 innings. His 9.72 ERA is hideous and Pelfrey needs to do something tonight. His sub-par pitching is really killing this team for a guy that was supposed to hold down the #1 spot in the rotation until Johan Santana comes back.

Preview: Astros at Mets April 21, 2011

Houston Astros (7-11) at New York Mets (5-13) 7:10pm

J.A. Happ  (1-2 5.79) vs. Chris Capuano (1-1 8.53)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Astros go for the sweep tonight at Citi Field. The Mets have lost seven straight home games and could get swept by the NL Central’s last place Astros.

The good news for the Mets is that two of Happ’s three starts have been poor. The bad new for the Mets is that Capuano has been worse. Over Capuano’s last two starts he’s given up 11 runs in 11.2 innings. Not exactly a recipe for success.

Houston Astros (6-11) at New York Mets (5-12) 7:10pm

Bud Norris  (1-1 5.06) vs. R.A. Dickey (1-2 3.93)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Astros have a chance to win the series tonight with a win. Norris started the season with two poor starts but his last start against the Padres was very good going 6 shutout innings for a win.

Dickey’s last two starts weren’t very good allowing 8 runs in 11.1 innings. He also had a 1 inning relief appearance in Atlanta. He needs to be the stopper again tonight for the Mets to make sure they don’t lose a home series to the Astros.

Preview: Astros at Mets April 19, 2011

Houston Astros (5-11) at New York Mets (5-11) 7:10pm

Wandy Rodriguez  (0-2 7.31) vs. Jon Niese (0-2 6.88)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The NL Central’s last place Astros come to town playing just as poorly as the Mets have been. It’s no surprise that the Astros are up for sale just like the Mets are either. This should be a real barn burner of a series with two last place teams battling it.

After the last http://www.health-canada-pharmacy.com three seasons of pitching really well, Rodriguez is off to a terrible start. Two of his three starts this season have been awful. However, he did have one good start against the Marlins and it probably won’t be long before he gets back on track.

Niese started well against the Marlins this season but has had two consecutive awful starts against the Phillies and Rockies. He needs to get back on track tonight.

Preview: Mets at Braves April 17, 2011

New York Mets (4-11)  at Atlanta Braves (7-8) 1:35pm

Dillon Gee (0-0 NA) vs. Tommy Hanson (1-2 3.38)

TV: WPIX   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets have now lost seven straight games and are relying on Dillon Gee to turn the tide. He’s making a spot start, called up from Triple-A Buffalo for the game today. He made two starts at Buffalo already, one very good against Pawtucket and the other really bad against Syracuse for a 1-1 record with a 4.63 ERA.

The Braves are looking to sweep the series behind Hanson. In his last start against the Marlins he threw 7 shutout innings to get the win.

Preview: Mets at Braves April 16, 2011

New York Mets (4-9)  at Atlanta Braves (5-8) 4:10pm

D.J. Carrasco (0-0 4.05) vs. Derek Lowe (1-2 1.45)

Mike Pelfrey (0-1 10.80) vs. Jair Jurrjens (0-0 NA)

TV: Fox, SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets, losers of five straight games, limp into Atlanta for a three game series starting with a rain-delayed doubleheader today. Chris Young couldn’t make the start because of bicep tendinitis so Carrasco gets a spot start. Expect to see the bullpen working early and often in this game.

Pelfrey goes in the second game and the Mets have lost all three games that he started this year. Jurrjens hasn’t made a start this season after straining his oblique during a spring training game on March 24.

New York Mets (4-9)  at Atlanta Braves (5-8) 7:30pm

D.J. Carrasco (0-0 4.05) vs. Derek Lowe (1-2 1.45)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets, losers of five straight games, limp into Atlanta for a three game series starting tonight. Chris Young couldn’t make the start because of bicep tendinitis so Carrasco gets a spot start.

The Braves haven’t been playing great baseball either so maybe this is what the Mets need to get right. The Braves have lost series’ to the Brewers, Phillies, and Marlins already. But Lowe has pitched really well in his two starts, both losses. He’s allowed only 3 runs in 13 innings and his WHIP is a paltry 1.07. It’s been tough to get on base against him so far this season.
