Preview: Mets at Braves August 3, 2010

New York Mets (53-53) at Atlanta Braves (60-45) 7:10pm

R.A. Dickey (7-4 2.32) vs Derek Lowe (10-9 4.58)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: It’s a sad state of affairs when the Mets need to rely on Dickey to be the stopper, but that’s where we are. He hasn’t given up a run in his last two starts. Fortunately, Lowe has been giving up runs and games at an alarming rate recently. He’s given up 11 runs in his last three starts.

What to watch: The Braves have lost their last three series’. But they aren’t playing as poorly as the Mets by any stretch of the imagination. Hudson has been pitching pretty well. He’s won three of his last four starts. Santana got rocked in his last start by the Cardinals giving up 7 runs over 5.2 IP.

Preview: D-Backs at Mets August 1, 2010

Arizona D-Backs (38-66) at New York Mets (53-51) 1:10pm

Daniel Hudson (1-1 6.32) vs Jon Niese (7-4 3.43)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and D-Backs play the rubber game of the series after the Mets took a thriller in the bottom of the ninth last night. Today is also the Mets Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It’s a great game to have a ticket for. Hudson was roughed up badly in two of his three starts this season. This is only his sixth career big league start. Niese had another fantastic game against the Cardinals in his last start allowing only 1 run over 6 innings.

Preview: D-Backs at Mets July 31, 2010

Arizona D-Backs (38-64) at New York Mets (52-51) 7:10pm

Barry Enright (2-2 2.73) vs Hisanori Takahashi (7-5 4.47)

TV: WPIX   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets need this one to avoid the D-Backs taking the series here. Enright has pitched really well in his last three starts including July 20 against the Mets. He went 8 innings allowing 1 run in that start. Takahashi pitched an inning of relief on Wed. and last started a game on July 22. His start was very good against the Dodgers going 7 innings and allowing 2 runs. But he’s been very inconsistent this year. The Mets will need to be ready with a quick hook for Takahashi.

Preview: D-Backs at Mets July 30, 2010

Arizona D-Backs (37-64) at New York Mets (52-50) 7:10pm

Ian Kennedy (5-8 4.10) vs Mike Pelfrey (10-5 4.00)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The D-Backs come to town on a six game losing streak after sweeping the Mets in Arizona. Kennedy got a loss in his last start against the Giants giving up 4 runs in 6.2 IP. He did beat the Mets in his prior start giving up1 run over 5 IP in that game. Pelfrey hasn’t won a game since June 25 and looks like he’s just run out of gas. He needs to get it together quickly if the Mets have any shot at the postseason this year.

Preview: Cardinals at Mets July 29, 2010

St. Louis Cardinals (56-45) at New York Mets (51-50) 12:10pm

Blake Hawksworth (4-6 5.23) vs R.A. Dickey (6-4 2.55)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Cardinals play the rubber game of the series early today. Most of Hawksworth’s appearance have come out of the bullpen and he hasn’t fared very well recently. So the Mets have a chance and getting some good offense going today. Dickey left his last start with an injured leg but it wasn’t serious, so he’ll go again today. He’s been outstanding this season, almost beyond belief.

Preview: Cardinals at Mets July 28, 2010

St. Louis Cardinals (55-45) at New York Mets (51-49) 7:10pm

Jaime Garcia (9-4 2.21) vs Johan Santana (8-5 2.79)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets would be in great shape if they never had to leave Citi Field. They’re 31-16 at home now. Let’s hope that home cooking continues tonight. Santana is 6-3 with a 2.81 ERA at home this year. Garcia hasn’t pitched as well on the road as he does at home (.248 BAA vs. .221 at home). But he did pitch a nice game against the Phillies in his last start going 7 innings and only allowing 1 run.
