Scott Baker (6-6 4.61) vs Jon Niese (4-2 4.417)

What to watch: The Mets and Twins play the rubber game of the series today. Baker’s season has been a roller coaster of up and down games. His last start was pretty bad at Milwaukee giving up 5 ER over6 IP. Niese’s last start was even worse in a no-decision against Detroit. He gave up 6 ER over 4.2 IP.

Carl Pavano (8-6 3.64) vs Johan Santana (5-4 3.31)

TV: WPIX   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets can win the series with a victory this afternoon. Santana is pitching against his former team and it’s his first start since news broke that he was accused of raping a woman in Florida last October. Pavano has been pitching really well and won three straight games. His last start was a complete game win against Philly in which he only gave up 1 run.

What to watch: The first place Twins come to town for a three game series this weekend. They’re coming off getting swept in Milwaukee. Slowey got rocked by the Phillies in his last start for 7 runs in 1.2 IP. Pelfrey is also coming off a loss to the Yankees in which he gave up 5 ER in 7 IP.

Armando Galarraga (2-1 3.32) vs Hisanori Takahashi (6-2 3.13)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are going for the sweep tonight against the Tigers. Takahashi has won two straight starts and only given up 1 run over 13 IP in that time. Galarraga hasn’t been that great since the perfect game was stolen from him. In his last three starts, he’s given up 8 ER over 17 IP.

Jeremy Bonderman (3-4 4.06) vs R.A. Dickey (5-0 2.82)

TV: SNY, ESPN   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Bonderman’s last two starts have been very good. He’s given up 4 ER over 14 IP but it was against the Nats and Pirates. We all know what Dickey’s been doing this season. I keep hoping he can keep the magic going for one more start.

April 27 2010: Fans cheer for their team during game 2 of a double header MLB game between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. The Mets beat the Dodgers 10-5.

http://view.picapp.com//JavaScripts/OTIjs.jsAfter the longest (and ironically most successful) road trip of the season, the Mets are returning to the friendly confines of Citi Field.

Unfortunately, the best two teams in the AL Central will be awaiting them.

Wednesday, June 23rd: Tigers (Bonderman) vs. Mets (Dickey) 7:10 PM ESPN
Thursday, June 24th: Tigers (Galarraga) vs. Mets (Takahashi) 7:10 PM MLB Network
Friday, June 25th: Twins (Slowey) vs. Mets (Pelfrey) 7:10 PM
Saturday, June 26th: Twins (Pavano) vs. Mets (Santana) 1:10 PM

The 2nd place Tigers are led offensively by Miguel Cabrera, who leads the majors in home runs (19) and runs batted in (60). Detroit is 8-2 in their past ten games, so the Mets would be wise to not overlook this Tigers’ team which has been hot lately. Continue reading “Mets Home Stand Preview: June 22-27, 2010”
