On Deck: May 23- Mets At Rockies

New York Mets (22-23) at Colorado Rockies (18-29) 9:05pm

Oliver Perez (4-3) vs, Greg Reynolds (0-1)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Coming off a four game sweep in Atlanta the Mets need to get their game together in Colorado. They’re up against the Rockies highly regarded rookie pitcher Greg Reynolds tonight. The only positive is that the Rockies are playing very poorly this season, so they may be a good team to get right against. If not, we’ll probably have a new manager on Monday.

On Deck: May 22 Mets-Braves

New York Mets (22-22) at Atlanta Braves (25-21)  7:10pm

Johan Santana (5-2) vs. Tim Hudson (6-3)

TV: SNY            Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets are trying to avoid getting swept tonight in this four game series in Atlanta. Santana once again has to stop the bleeding for the Mets. It’s been his job all season long. Make sure that you tune into Willie Randolph’s least favorite TV station (SNY) to see if the Mets can finally get a win before heading to Colorado.

On Deck: May 21-Mets vs. Braves

New York Mets (22-21) at Atlanta Braves (24-21)  7:10pm

Mike Pelfrey (2-4) vs. Jair Jurrjens (4-3)

TV: SNY         Radio: WFAN

What to watch: After getting swept in a double header yesterday the Mets need to cut their losses in this Atlanta series by winning both tonight and tomorrow. The pressure is on Mike Pelfrey to pitch as well as he did in his last start (a loss) when he was fantastic. Willie Randolph is becoming a real distraction for this team. He’s finally starting to realize that he won’t be scrutinized so closely when the Mets win. Go figure! Willie is always the last to figure these things out.

On Deck: Mets In Atlanta Play Two

New York Mets (22-19) at Atlanta Braves (22-21)   1:00pm and 7:00pm

First game: John Maine (5-2) vs. Tom Glavine (1-1)

Second game: Claudio Vargas (0-1) vs. Jorge Campillo (0-0)

TV: SNY    Radio: WFAN  (both games)

What to watch: The Mets play four games in Atlanta over three days before moving on to Colorado. The best part of the road trip will be getting a chance at revenge on Tom Glavine in the first game. John Maine hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in a game since his first start on April 5th. Claudio Vargas was terrific in his first start against Washington on May 14th. He didn’t deserve a loss. Now that Pedro is joining the team in Atlanta for a bullpen session, Vargas is just keeping Pedro’s seat warm until he gets back.

On Deck: Sunday May 18, 2008 Mets-Yankees

New York Mets (21-19) at New York Yankees (20-23) 8:05pm

Oliver Perez (3-3) vs. Chien-Ming Wang (6-1)

TV: ESPN           Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets can get a two game sweep tonight at Yankee Stadium. But they have to go through Wang to do it, who’s the Yankees ace pitcher. You never know which Perez will show up for the Mets. We’ll just have to see how he looks tonight.

On Deck: Saturday May 17, 2008 Mets-Yankees

New York Mets (20-19) at New York Yankees (20-22)   1:05pm

Johan Santana (4-2) vs. Andy Pettite (3-4)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Supposedly the Mets cleared the air in the clubhouse. We’ll see if that lasts. The fans and blogs are calling for Willie Randolph to be fired but Omar Minaya gave him a vote of confidence before the rainout yesterday. Oh… by the way two of the biggest names in pitching over the last ten years are on the mound in this game.

On Deck: Friday May 16, 2008 Mets-Yankees

New York Mets (20-19) at New York Yankees (20-22) 7:05pm

Johan Santana (4-2) vs. Darrell Rasner (2-0)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The good thing for the Mets is that the Yankees are struggling as badly as they are. Santana comes in once again to stop the bleeding. That’s become his job with the Mets. Rasner is an average pitcher but consistently throws strikes. So the Mets need to be ready to start hacking because Rasner doesn’t typically walk a lot of batters.
