New York Mets (10-8) at Chicago Cubs (13-6) 2:20pm

Nelson Figueroa (1-0) vs. Ted Lilly (0-3)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets really need to take this game. Even though it’s a short two game series they don’t want to get swept in Chicago. Getting out of town with a split would be just fine. Figueroa has looked pretty good for a guy off the street and out of U.S. baseball recently. Ted Lilly has been awful this season. Hopefully, that’s a recipe for a Mets win.

New York Mets (10-6) at Philadelphia Phillies (8-10)   8:05pm

TV: ESPN Radio: WFAN

Mike Pelfrey (2-0) vs. Adam Eaton (0-0)

What to watch: The Mets go for the sweep tonight in Philly. There isn’t much that would be sweeter than sweeping the Phillies in their own ballpark on national TV. Mike Pelfrey pitched a terrific game in his last start Tuesday against the Nationals. Jimmy Rollins is still limited to pinch hitting duty for the Phillies. They’re such a different team when he’s in the lineup. He’s missed ten games now, we’ll see if he tries to come back from his ankle injury tonight.

On Deck: April 19, 2008

New York Mets (9-6) at Philadelphia Phillies (8-9)   3:55pm

TV: Fox    Radio: WFAN

Oliver Perez (1-0) vs. Jamie Moyer (1-0)

What to watch:  The Mets are on a four game winning streak headed into the Fox game of the week. You never know what you’re going to get from Oliver Perez, and Jamie Moyer is pretty consistent but not a lot of fun to watch. David Wright’s been hot at the plate and Citizens Bank Park is a good place to be when that happens. It’s still unknown if Jimmy Rollins will be back from his uncle’s funeral in Oakland in time for the game today.

On Deck: April 18, 2008

New York Mets (8-6) at Philadelphia Phillies  (8-8)   7:05pm   TV: CW11   Radio: WFAN

Johan Santana (1-2) vs. Cole Hamels (2-1)

What to watch:  Santana against Hamels is a great pitching match up. We’ll see if Santana can keep the ball on the right side of the fence tonight. That was his problem last season, and in his last start.

On Deck: April 17, 2008

Washington Nationals (4-11) at New York Mets (7-6)   7:10pm   TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

John Lannan (0-2) vs. Nelson Figueroa (1-0)

What to watch:  The Nationals are really limping early in the season. So it would be nice to finish them off for a series sweep tonight. This isn’t exactly a marquis pitching match up, but Figueroa does draw interest as a feel-good story.

On Deck: April 16, 2008

Washington Nationals (4-10) vs. New York Mets (6-6)   7:10pm  TV: SNY    Radio: WFAN

Matt Chico (0-2) vs. John Maine (0-1)

What to watch: Playing the Nationals is a good way to get your team right. It’s hard to figure out what their strategy is with a strange mix of veterans and a couple of young guys. I’m looking for John Maine to return to his spring training form tonight.
