Mets Bullpen Falls Apart Again In 7-6 Loss To Braves

The Mets had a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning. Mike Pelfrey didn’t have one of his best games, but it was good enough. He went six innings giving up three runs, a quality start. Then came the infamous Mets bullpen. It’s incredible that nobody can be trusted in the bullpen. I can’t remember such poor performances as a group as the 2008 Mets bullpen.

Schoenweiss, Smith, Feliciano, and Heilman all contributed to today’s disaster in Atlanta. It’s the same old story.

Another great offensive game by Carlos Delgado was wasted. He went 4 for 5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI’s, and a dramatic home run in the ninth to get the Mets within one run of tying the game.

Unbelievable…

Mets Shut Out By Nats 1-0 For Third Straight Loss

Mets manager Jerry Manuel held a team meeting prior to tonight’s game to rally the troops. It didn’t work…

The Mets were shut out by Odalis Perez and the lowly Nationals for their third consecutive loss. Visions of “The Collapse” are dancing through our heads.

Mike Pelfrey was terrific pitching seven innings giving up only one run. He got no support from the offense as the Mets mustered only four hits.

Fernando Tatis left the game with a separated shoulder after diving for a line drive in left field.

Mets Sweep Nats With 13-10 Win

The Mets won ugly with Mike Pelfrey, Aaron Heilman, and Brian Stokes all having off nights on the mound.

David Wright had a monster 4 for 4 game with 3 RBI’s and a homer to power the Mets over the never-say-die Nationals.

The Phillies lost so the Mets extend their NL East lead again to 3.5 games. There are now 17 games left to play. This is the point last season when the Mets began their epic collapse. Enough said.

What to watch: The Mets go for the sweep of the short series tonight. Perez has pitched decently for the Nats lately. But Pelfrey has been outstanding despite a loss in his last start to the Phillies. Carlos Delgado is absolutely scalding hot right now. It’s been almost impossible to get him out.

Mets Drop First Game To Phillies 3-0

The Mets pitching was good, but the Phillies pitching was better. Brett Myers was the star of the show throwing eight shutout innings for the Phils.

Mike Pelfrey went seven inning giving up three runs (two earned). The Mets bullpen was perfect over the final two innings as well.

The only semblance of offense the Mets got was from Daniel Murphy going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles.

The Mets lead is back to 2 games over the Phils and the magic number is 20.
