New York Mets (10-6) at Philadelphia Phillies (8-10)   8:05pm

TV: ESPN Radio: WFAN

Mike Pelfrey (2-0) vs. Adam Eaton (0-0)

What to watch: The Mets go for the sweep tonight in Philly. There isn’t much that would be sweeter than sweeping the Phillies in their own ballpark on national TV. Mike Pelfrey pitched a terrific game in his last start Tuesday against the Nationals. Jimmy Rollins is still limited to pinch hitting duty for the Phillies. They’re such a different team when he’s in the lineup. He’s missed ten games now, we’ll see if he tries to come back from his ankle injury tonight.

Phillies 5 – Mets 2

New York- The Philadelphia Phillies (4-4) came to town and started up where they left off last season. The New York Mets (2-4) were expecting to get their final season in Shea Stadium started with a bang, but it didn’t turn out that way. The Phillies took the first game of a three game series 5-2.

Scott Schoenweiss recorded his first blown save and loss of the season. Carlos Delgado homered early in the game but didn’t help Schoenweis with a throwing error that led to a three run seventh for the Phillies.

Before the game Matt Wise was placed on the 15-day disabled list and Carlos Muniz was called up and pitched the ninth.

Phillies Activate Brad Lidge

Philadelphia PhilliesImage from WikipediaThe Philadelphia Phillies activated closer Brad Lidge from the disabled list today. He’ll be with the team for their series at Shea Stadium this week.

Lidge has always had great stuff but struggled over the last couple of years in Houston. It’ll be interesting to see how he adapts to life in Philadelphia. The fans don’t take blown saves very well there.
