What to watch: Supposedly the Mets cleared the air in the clubhouse. We’ll see if that lasts. The fans and blogs are calling for Willie Randolph to be fired but Omar Minaya gave him a vote of confidence before the rainout yesterday. Oh… by the way two of the biggest names in pitching over the last ten years are on the mound in this game.
Friday May 16, 2008 Game Postponed
Update Saturday May 17, 2008 8:00am: The Mets and Yankees won’t play a double header this weekend. They’ll make up the game in June is the information that I’m getting from Mets.com.
The Mets-Yankees game scheduled for tonight has been postponed. A makeup date hasn’t been set yet.
Video: Billy Wagner Calling Out Teammates
The news is out today that the Mets players are holding a players only meeting to hash out the problems that were brought to a head yesterday. In addition, it’s being reported that Billy Wagner has apologized to Carlos Delgado today and didn’t mean to single him out. Audio: Weighing In On Mediocrity-Randolph, Heyman
Here’s a couple of audio links from WFAN today. Willie Randolph tries to put on a show of feisty commentary to dissuade us from thinking that he’s too passive. I’m not buying his act at all. Sports Illustrated baseball writer Jon Heyman doesn’t think Randolph’s job is in immediate danger.

4:24pm- It’s raining hard but no word on the game being postponed yet.
5:00pm- It’s still raining like crazy and there’s no word of the game being postponed.
6:38pm- I guess they’re really going to try to get this game in tonight. No word on a postponement.
Player News: Figueroa and Torrealba
Nelson Figueroa has cleared waivers and is expected to report to Triple-A New Orleans.
Yorvit Torrealba has filed a grievance with MLB over the Mets backing out of an agreement for a contract with him this past off-season.
