The Mets did a job on the Phillies yesterday during the Fox game of the week. Of course, Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports had his say on the Mets trade market. Everything seems to be focusing on Carlos Beltran right now. In the video below, Rosenthal says that Beltran won’t be with the Mets for much longer and that the Mets are willing to pick up the majority of his $6M salary that’s left this season to get top prospects back.

Rosenthal says that the Giants, Indians, Tigers, Red Sox, and Phillies have interest in Beltran. We’ve heard before that Beltran may be willing to waive his full no-trade clause to go to a contender. He even met with Scott Boras last week when the Mets were in LA to talk about trade scenarios.

At this point, the Mets are 11 games behind the Phillies for the division and 7.5 games behind the Braves for the wild card. And there are four teams ahead of them for the wild card. Playoff chances are fairly unlikely so it would make sense, if the Mets can’t close ground on the Braves in the next week and a half, to trade Beltran and raise the white flag on the 2011 season.

Video: Rosenthal on Mets’ Sandy Alderson

Here’s a video of Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports on the Mets hiring of Sandy Alderson as General Manager. He’s very positive about the move and talks about how Alderson’s presence will allow Jeff Wilpon to take a less active role in baseball operations. I know that’s something that we’re all looking forward to.

Check out the video below from Rosenthal and comment with your thoughts on the Sandy Alderson hiring.

Video: Jose Reyes on Mets-Cardinals 20 Inning Game

There are a lot of reactions coming in from last night’s 20 inning marathon game. I’ll be getting those reactions up throughout the morning. Whenever Fox Sports has a Saturday game for the Mets, there’s always a lot of video to post.

Here’s some video from Jose Reyes after the game with Ken Rosenthal talking about the fatigue of playing in such a long game. He also asks if the Mets bench was talking about how they had to get some hits off the Cardinals position players that were pitching. It’s a good, short interview.

Video: Jeff Francoeur – No Problem With Manuel

Last night ESPN Baseball Tonight aired a report by Seth Everett that several players have a problem with Jerry Manuel. The players Everett cited were Jeff Francoeur, David Wright, Johan Santana, and Jose Reyes. He listed the supposed reasons they all have a problem with Manuel.

Before today’s marathon game against the Cardinals, Francoeur responded and denied Everett’s report as a complete falsehood. See the interview below with Ken Rosenthal.

Video: Fox Sports 2010 NL East Preview

Here’s the annual video preview of the National League East from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. It’s disappointing that the Mets are an afterthought for Rosenthal this year. He lists the Phillies as the early leader and the Braves as a contender. Even the Marlins are mentioned.

Maybe it’s good for the Mets to go into the season without the high expectations of the mainstream media like they did in 2009. We’ll see…

Rosenthal: Mets Won’t Choke Again

We’ve got some video from Fox Sports and Ken Rosenthal today. Basically, he talks about K-Rod and Putz joining the Mets this season. He also gets into Redding, Garcia, Niece, and Parnell bolstering the fifth spot in the rotation.

Rosenthal does echo the sentiments I’ve heard a lot from Mets fans that Omar Minaya didn’t address the offense this offseason. But there may be some big bats available at the trade deadline this season. Namely, Matt Holliday and Maglio Ordonez are likely to become available for trades in my opinion.

Audio: Ken Rosenthal Hot Stove Report

Fox Sports senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal joins Evan Roberts on WFAN to talk hot stove baseball. Of course, Evan talks mostly about the Mets. Rosenthal debunks the notion that the Mets and Dodgers are still talking about an Andruw Jones trade. Several media reports have done the same today despite Buster Olney’s report on ESPN yesterday.
