The Mets got a tremendous game from R.A. Dickey pitching on a bad foot. He threw 7 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts but got hit in the eighth inning for 3 runs. Doing it on an injured foot was just a great effort. He didn’t get any support from the offense and didn’t deserve a loss.

Bobby Parnell was back from the DL and looked just as bad, if not worse, than when he left. He got two outs in the ninth and it took him 32 pitches to do it. He gave up 2 runs but both were unearned because of a Ruben Tejada throwing error.

The Mets offense was awful with their tenth straight game without a home run. They only mustered 6 hits and 2 walks in the game. Angel Pagan and Daniel Murphy had 2 hits apiece but they didn’t score after they put up 1 run in the first inning. The offense is just sad.

The Mets and Pirates will do it again tomorrow for the third game in the four game series.

  1. I can totally understand why Collins isn't bringing in a reliever late in the game. The middle relief is lousy right now. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of starters run out of gas in late games. Too bad K-Rod can't go 2 on a regular basis.
