Preview: Phillies at Mets August 14, 2010

Philadelphia Phillies (64-51) at New York Mets (58-57) 7:10 pm

Roy Halladay (14-8 2.34) vs Pat Misch (0-0 N/A)

TV: WPIX  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets will try to build on their two straight wins behind Misch just called up from Triple-A Buffalo. He was 11-4 3.23 at Buffalo this year. K-Rod will return to the team and address the media before the game. Halladay has won his last four starts but didn’t pitch that well in his last one against the Mets on Aug. 8 giving up 5 runs in 7 innings.

Preview: Rockies at Mets August 12, 2010

Colorado Rockies (59-54) at New York Mets (56-57) 12:10 pm

Jason Hammel (8-6 4.38) vs Johan Santana (9-6 3.06)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Rockies play the rubber game this afternoon. Hammel has been hit pretty hard recently giving up 11 runs in his last three starts. Santana recovered from a bad stretch in his last start against Philly throwing 7.1 shutout innings. Let’s hope he can keep it going.

Preview: Rockies at Mets August 11, 2010

Colorado Rockies (58-54) at New York Mets (56-56) 7:10 pm

Jeff Francis (4-4 4.67) vs Jon Niese (7-5 3.63)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets have a chance to make things happen against Francis. He isn’t having a good season after missing all of last year to injury. For the most part, Niese has been so impressive this year. He only has 28 starts in his career but he looks like an experienced veteran out there. Also, expect Jeff Francoeur back in the lineup against the lefty Francis.

Preview: Rockies at Mets August 10, 2010

Colorado Rockies (58-53) at New York Mets (55-56) 7:10 pm

Ubaldo Jimenez (17-2 2.61) vs Mike Pelfrey (10-6 4.16)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Rockies come to town after going 3-3 in their last two series against the Giants and Pirates. Jimenez is in the running for the Cy Young Award this year, so it won’t be an easy task to beat him. But he has been hit a few times. His last two games he’s only given up 2 runs in 14 innings though. We all know about Pelfrey’s stuggles. He hasn’t won a game since June 25. I keep waiting for him to regain his early season form but it isn’t happening.

Preview: Mets at Phillies August 8, 2010

New York Mets (55-55) at Philadelphia Phillies (61-49) 1:35 pm

R.A. Dickey (7-4 2.36) vs Roy Halladay (13-8 2.17)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Phillies play the rubber game of the series today in what should be a good pitching match up. Dickey has been excellent and consistent since his first start on May 19. I keep waiting for him to lost it, but it hasn’t happened. Expect Fernando Martinez to get the start in right field today. It won’t be easy for the Mets against Halladay. He’s had three straight great starts and wins only giving up 2 runs in his last 24 innings over that period.

Preview: Mets at Phillies August 7, 2010

New York Mets (54-55) at Philadelphia Phillies (61-48) 7:05 pm

Johan Santana (8-6 3.20) vs Cole Hamels (7-7 3.56)

TV: WPIX  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: It’s only August, but games like this are starting to be “must-win” games for the Mets or their season will be finished soon. The Phillies have won the last five games that Hamels started but he’s been hit at times giving up 7 runs over his last two starts. The Mets have lost the last two games Santana started. He got rocked by the Cards for 7 runs then gave up 4 to the Braves in losses.

Preview: Mets at Braves August 4, 2010

New York Mets (54-53) at Atlanta Braves (60-46) 7:10pm

Mike Pelfrey (10-5 4.10) vs Kris Medlen (6-2 3.66)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Pelfrey just hasn’t been himself for a long time now. The Mets have lost five straight games that he started. They’ll need him to find it if they want to take the rubber game tonight. Medlen has been in and out of the rotation this season. He hasn’t pitched that well but the Braves won the last two games he started.
