On Deck: Thursday May 15, 2008 Mets-Nats

Washington Nationals (17-24) at New York Mets (20-18) 1:10pm

Jason Bergmann (0-1) vs. Mike Pelfrey (2-3)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: This is another must-win game for the Mets. It’s not an option to lose three out of four games at home to the Nationals. Something like that might cost Willie Randolph his job considering the mediocre start to this season. Mike Pelfrey had a nice start last time out so let’s hope that he can keep that up.

On Deck: Wednesday May 14, 2008 Mets-Nats

Washington Nationals (16-24) at New York Mets (20-17)  7:10pm

Tim Redding (4-3) vs. Claudio Vargas (0-0)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Vargas makes his first start for the Mets after getting cut by the Brewers in spring training. His numbers weren’t very good last season in Milwaukee, so I’m leary about what kind of performance we’ll see tonight. It couldn’t be much worse than Nelson Figueroa’s last few starts though. I hope…

On Deck: Tuesday May 13, 2008 Mets-Nats

Washington Nationals (16-23) at New York Mets (19-17)  7:10pm

John Lannan (3-3) vs. John Maine (4-2)

TV: SNY      Radio: WFAN

What to watch:  After losing last night to the Nationals, the Mets need to win the next three games in a row to have a successful home stand against the Nats. It’s not a good position for the Mets to be in. John Maine should look to build on the success of his last start in Los Angeles. The Nationals John Lannan is from Long Beach, NY and pitched a great game at Shea on April 17th.

On Deck: Monday May 12, 2008 Mets-Nats

Washington Nationals (15-23) at New York Mets (19-16) 7:10pm

Odalis Perez (0-3) vs. Nelson Figueroa (2-2)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets start a four game home stand against the Nats before going to Yankee Stadium for a weekend series. This series is another chance for the Mets to beat up on the weak sisters of the National League. Winning at least three out of four games would be the idea here for the Mets. We’ll see if the weather holds up for tonight, the forecast is calling for rain today.

On Deck: Sunday May 11, 2008 Mets-Reds

Cincinnati Reds (15-22) at New York Mets (18-16) 1:10pm

Johnny Cueto (2-3) vs. Oliver Perez (2-3)

TV: CW11 Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets HAVE to win this game to take the series from the Reds. Cincinnati’s a struggling team and the Mets can’t lose a home series to them in today’s rubber game. Johnny Cueto is a good, young pitcher. So Oliver Perez should have his hands full keeping up with Cueto.

On Deck: Saturday May 10, 2008 Mets-Reds Twice

Cincinnati Reds (14-21) at New York Mets (17-15) 1:10pm 7:30pm

Matt Belisle (1-2) vs. Johan Santana (3-2)  1:10pm

Bronson Arroyo (1-4) vs. Mike Pelfrey (2-2)  7:30pm

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN (Both Games)

What to watch: Last nights rain out forced a dual admission double header today. Santana is keeping the day game and Pelfrey is moving to the night game. Ken Griffey was scratched from last nights lineup because he was sick. We’ll see if he can play today, he’s coming up on 600 home runs. The Reds are really bad this season so the Mets need to take advantage of that in this home series.

On Deck: Friday May 9, 2008 Mets-Reds

Cincinnati Reds (14-21) at New York Mets (17-15)  7:10pm

Matt Belisle (1-2) vs. Mike Pelfrey (2-2)

TV: SNY Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The awful Reds come to town this weekend for a series that the Mets need for some easy wins. Matt Belisle has made three unimpressive starts for the Reds so don’t be surprised if the Mets get a good chance to heat up their bats tonight. The Reds do have some good young players but are just biding time until they can dump Ken Griffey and Adam Dunn at the trading deadline.
