Video: July 7 Post Game- Manuel, Wright, And Wagner
Here’s the SNY video from the post game wrap of the Mets 10-9 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. I’m disappointed that they didn’t include the video of Carlos Beltran telling MLB.com’s reporter that he’s not a baseball player. That was the best! I think it was Jon Blau but it was hard to tell from the video. I like that Carlos is starting to show some emotion this season. Anyway, here are the videos:
Audio: July 7- Eddie Coleman Beat Report
Image via WikipediaWFAN beat reporter Eddie Coleman calls into the Joe & Evan show with his daily Mets news. The studio hosts make this especially difficult to listen to today. Resident meat-head Joe Benigno starts out the interview by telling Coleman that Billy Wagner is no better than Armando Benitez. Unfortunately, that’s the type of moronic banter that we Mets fans have to suffer through to get the report from Eddie Coleman. Ugh. Our burden to bear…
Consider yourself lucky that this is an audio clip and you don’t have to see Benigno. Occasionally, he’s on SNY and looks like a skeleton with a suit and tie on. It’s truly frightening.
The topics include Ryan Church, Moises Alou, Billy Wagner (of course), and the Phillies series concluding tonight.
Audio: Olney On Mets Trading Jose Reyes
ESPN baseball writer Buster Olney talks to Michael Kay about the possibility of the Mets trading Jose Reyes. He says that it’s not out of the realm of possibility if the right deal comes along. Specifically, he mentions the Rays as a team that could put together an adequate package to satisfy the Mets.
There are a couple of things that I’d like to mention on this topic:
- Omar Minaya would have to be completely insane to trade Reyes. He wouldn’t find another player that’s an equal replacement to lead off. Reyes’ contract is extremely reasonable. The list goes on of reasons not to trade Reyes.
- The Rays are mentioned in every trade discussion now even though they’ve never been a major player in trade deals in the past. Just because the Rays have a wealth of talent doesn’t mean that they’ll become dealers overnight. Until the Rays start making major deals I don’t want to hear about them being linked to every player that may become available for trades.
