Game Preview: Nationals at Mets [Game 18] April 26, 2009
Washington Nationals (3-13 Road: 0-8) at New York Mets (8-9 Home: 5-3) 1:10 pm
Jordan Zimmerman (1-0 3.00) vs. Oliver Perez (1-1 7.80)
TV: WPIX Radio: WFAN
What to watch: Zimmerman looks like a bright spot for an otherwise dreadful Nationals team. He made one start against the Braves and got a rare win for the Nats. The Mets have lost 2 of 3 Perez starts. I believe if he gets bombed again today that the Mets may skip his next start so he can try to figure out what his problem(s) are.

Mets 8- Nationals 2 April 25, 2009
Mike Pelfrey had a pretty good game returning from forearm tendinitis and a missed start. He went 5.2 innings giving up 2 runs. What I didn’t like about his start was the 3 walks and 1 strikeout. But he did have almost all groundball outs which is signature Pelfrey. So it was a bit of a mixed bag in this start.
The Nationals are horrible defensively. They had 3 errors today after looking bad in the field last night as well. This team really needs a complete makeover. What a disaster.
Carlos Beltran kept up his hot hitting today going 3 for 5 and upping his season average to .415. Ryan Church was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.
Game Preview: Nationals at Mets [Game 17] April 25, 2009
Washington Nationals (3-12 Road: 0-7) at New York Mets (7-9 Home: 4-3) 1:10 pm
Daniel Cabrera (0-1 4.50) vs. Mike Pelfrey (1-0 8.10)
TV: SNY Radio: WFAN
What to watch: Pelfrey is making his first start in 12 days after missing a turn in the rotation because of forearm tendinitis. He says that he feels fine and is ready to go. Cabrera hasn’t pitched terribly for the Nationals but he walks too many hitters (8 walks and 6 strikeouts). He’s one of those curious pitchers that appears to have good stuff but gives up too many walks and gets hit harder than you would think.

Game Preview: Nationals at Mets [Game 16] April 24, 2009
Washington Nationals (3-11 Road: 0-6) at New York Mets (6-9 Home: 3-3) 7:10 pm
Scott Olsen (0-2 9.00) vs. Johan Santana (2-1 0.46)
TV: SNY Radio: WFAN
What to watch: The Mets are in a 4-game losing streak and coming off a sweep at the hands of the Cardinals. The Nationals just won 2 of 3 at home against Atlanta. Olsen’s last start was a no decision against the Marlins and was a very good game, 7 IP and 2 ER. Santana hasn’t given up an earned run in his last two starts. He’s been terrific. The Mets need to get things turned around starting tonight. Olsen is the first lefty starter they’ve faced this season. Both Fernando Tatis and Gary Sheffield will be in the lineup.

Mets Schneider Blasts 2 HR’s In Win Over Nats 7-2
Light hitting catcher Brian Schneider provided the power that the Mets needed tonight. He hit two solo homers leading the Mets to a much needed win over the Nationals.
Johan Santana did what he always does, put the Mets in position to win. He went seven innings giving up one run. What more can you ask?
It ends up being a split of the four game series in Washington as the Mets head to Atlanta for a weekend series.
