I’ll be co-hosting a pre-game show for Mets fan before tonight’s game against the Braves with Kerel Cooper of On The Black. We’ll be talking about all of the current Mets news including injuries to David Wright and Ike Davis, the Justin Turner phenomenon, and new ace Dillon Gee.

The show starts at 7:30pm Eastern Time and you can watch below or visit the show page. You can not only watch but join the conversation with the chat feature. We’ll address your thoughts on the Mets and even talk about subjects that the mainstream media won’t like how long the Wilpons can hold onto this franchise.

Be a part of the show, don’t just watch on TV!

Preview: Braves at Mets June 5, 2011

Atlanta Braves (32-27) at New York Mets (27-31) 8:05pm

Tim Hudson (4-4 3.75) vs. R.A. Dickey (2-6 4.39)

TV: ESPN              Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Braves play the rubber game of the series on national TV tonight. Hudson has pitched pretty well this season but the Braves are 5-6 in games he started. In his last start in Atlanta he went 6 innings against the Padres and allowed only 1 earned run.

The Mets are 3-8 in Dickey’s starts this season. He pitched through a tough foot injury in his last start against the Pirates and went 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs. He took the loss but got no run support. He’s proving how tough he is pitching through this injury.

Atlanta Braves (32-26) at New York Mets (26-31) 7:10pm

Jair Jurrjens (7-1 1.51) vs. Dillon Gee (5-0 3.83)

TV: SNY              Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets need to win tonight and tomorrow to take this home series from the Braves. They’ll go for it behind Gee and the Mets have won all seven games he started this season. He’s been pitching really well, frequently getting to the sixth inning or beyond in his starts.

The Mets won’t have an easy time facing Jurrjens though. He’s been on fire since starting the season on the DL. The Braves are 7-2 in his nine starts this year. He hasn’t allowed more than 2 runs in any start but his BAA is .271 on the road. So there’s hope that the Mets can get to him tonight.

Braves 6 – Mets 3 June 3, 2011

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - FEBRUARY 24: Jon Niese #...

The Mets got a great start from Jon Niese and the bullpen blew the game at the end again. It’s been happening for a week now. The bullpen just can’t hold a lead. Niese was fantastic going 7.2 innings and allowing 2 runs. He had that big curve ball working well and left with a 3-2 lead. Jason Isringhausen was victimized by a critical error by Jose Reyes allowing an easy grounder to go right under his glove.

K-Rod got crushed in the ninth inning (but got another game finished toward his vesting option). He gave up 3 hits and a 1 walk in the inning to allow 3 runs. It was a complete disaster of an inning. But K-Rod has been really good this year so it’s hard to fault him for one bad game.

The Mets offense was decent with 9 hits and 1 walk in the game but they left 5 runners on base. Reyes had his 9th triple of the season and had 2 hits in the game.

Preview: Braves at Mets June 3, 2011

Atlanta Braves (31-26) at New York Mets (26-30) 7:10pm

Derek Lowe (3-4 4.03) vs. Jon Niese (4-5 3.91)

TV: SNY              Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Braves are in town for three games after losing two of three to the Padres in Atlanta. Lowe’s last two starts haven’t been very good. He’s given up 8 runs while walking 10 in 9.1 innings to the Angels and Reds. He did beat the Mets on April 16 in Atlanta when he went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs.

Nate McLouth and Jason Heyward are on the DL for the Braves.

The Mets have won four of the last five games that Niese started. In two of his last three starts he hasn’t allowed a run. And Niese has been pitching much better at Citi Field this year. In six starts at home he’s 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA. This will be his first start against the Braves this year.

Preview: Pirates at Mets June 2, 2011

Pittsburgh Pirates (26-28) at New York Mets (25-30) 1:10pm

Paul Maholm (2-7 3.18) vs. Mike Pelfrey (3-4 5.00)

TV: SNY              Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets need a win just to split the four game series today. They’ll do it behind Pelfrey and, unfortunately, the Mets have lost the last three games he started. Pelfrey only got 6 runs of support in those three games though.

Maholm has been up and down but his last start was fantastic. He threw a complete game 3-hit shutout in Chicago. Prior to that, the Pirates lost five games in a row that he started but he hasn’t gotten much run support either. The Pirates hit about as little as the Mets do so a low scoring affair today wouldn’t be a surprise.

Mets Trading David Wright Not Jose Reyes?

David Wright Traded?

This weeks rumors that David Wright could be traded instead of Jose Reyes came as a little shock to me. David Wright has been the face of the franchise and has endured years of being in the media spotlight under some of the worst conditions imaginable because no one else could deal with the media. This alone makes him the natural leader of the club. Not to mention David also has better numbers and a better work ethic than Reyes. But let’s mention them anyway.

Here are your numbers…
