Preview: Mets at Cubs September 3, 2010

New York Mets (66-68)  at Chicago Cubs (57-77) 2:20 pm

R.A. Dickey (9-5 2.57) vs Randy Wells (6-12 4.50)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Wells has lost 5 of his last 6 decisions and he’s really been up and down this season. The Cubs are having a terrible season and really have a lot of similarities to the Mets in an underperforming, overpaid team. Dickey is having a Cinderella season and the Mets have won the last four games that he started.

Preview: Mets at Braves September 2, 2010

New York Mets (65-68)  at Atlanta Braves (78-55) 7:10 pm

Johan Santana (10-9 3.02) vs Tim Hudson (15-5 2.24)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Under other circumstances this would be a great pitching matchup. But the Mets are trying to avoid an embarrassing sweep in Atlanta. Santana has been pitching pretty well but lost his last three starts. The Braves have won seven of the last eight games that Hudson started. He’s been pitching incredibly well this season, especially recently.

What to watch: The Mets will try to salvage something of the series tonight. Pelfrey has pitched four really good games in a row. He’s only given up 1 run over his last 16 innings over two starts. Hanson has been hit really hard in his last two starts losing both games. He’s given up 10 earned runs in his last 10 innings.

Jon Niese (8-6 3.63) vs Mike Minor (2-0 4.00)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Niese got hit really hard by the Marlins in his last start for 7 runs in 5.2 innings. It was his first poor start since Aug. 1. Minor is making his fourth start of the year and he’s pitched pretty well so far. He’s won his last two starts but they were against the Nats and Cubs.

Misch is making his fourth start of the year and the Mets have lost all three games he started. Although Misch didn’t pitch poorly, the Mets have only scored 6 runs over the three games Misch started.

Preview: Astros at Mets August 29, 2010

Houston Astros (59-70) at New York Mets (64-65)  1:10 pm

Bud Norris (6-7 5.03) vs R.A. Dickey (8-5 2.64)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Astros and Mets play the rubber game of the series today before the Mets head to Atlanta to begin a long road trip. The Mets have won the last three games that Dickey started. But he didn’t have his best stuff in his last start against the Marlins giving up 5 runs in 7 innings. The Astros have won the last 6 games that Norris started including Aug. 19 against the Mets. In that game Norris went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs while getting a win.

Preview: Astros at Mets August 27, 2010

Houston Astros (58-69) at New York Mets (63-64)  7:10 pm

Nelson Figueroa (3-1 2.98) vs Mike Pelfrey (12-7 3.80)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Astros come to town today coming off a four game sweep of the Phillies… In Philly! You know Figueroa will be highly motivated too. He pitched pretty well against the Mets on Aug. 15 going 5 innings and only allowing 1 earned run. Pelfrey has recovered to pitch three solid starts in a row. We’ll see if Jose Reyes is held out because of the oblique strain that recurred last night.
