Florida Marlins (63-62) at New York Mets (63-63)  7:10 pm

Anibal Sanchez (10-8 3.16) vs Jon Niese (8-5 3.33)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets and Marlins play the rubber game of the series tonight. Sanchez has had three good starts in a row for the Marlins although two were against the Nats and Astros. He’s only given up 2 earned runs in his last 19.2 innings over those three starts. Niese has been even better. He’s had four excellent starts in a row. Over that span he’s given up 4 runs in 26 innings.

Florida Marlins (62-62) at New York Mets (63-62)  1:35 pm

Alex Sanabia (2-1 3.77) vs Pat Misch (0-2 3.00)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets look to capitalize on last night’s win in the bottom of the ninth and keep the momentum going. Misch pitched okay in his last start in Houston giving up 3 runs in 6 innings. The Marlins are a better offensive team than the Astros though. This will be Sanabia’s sixth career start. He pitched really well in his last start against the Pirates going 7.2 innings and allowing only 1 run.

Preview: Mets at Pirates August 22, 2010

New York Mets (62-61) at Pittsburgh Pirates (40-83) 1:35 pm

Johan Santana (10-7 2.97) vs Zach Duke (5-12 5.32)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets actually have a chance to sweep a road series against an NL team today. Hey, it is the Pirates though. Santana went 8 innings in his last start in Houston but took the loss after giving up 4 runs. Duke has been getting knocked around recently and the Pirates lost the last four games he started. It’ll be interesting to see if the Mets go with Chris Carter in right field again against a lefty. The lineup has been scoring runs but doing it against righties.

Preview: Mets at Pirates August 21, 2010

New York Mets (61-61) at Pittsburgh Pirates (40-82) 7:05 pm

Jon Niese (7-5 3.38) vs James McDonald (2-2 4.26)

TV: WPIX  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The Mets finally found some offense last night but it probably won’t be as easy tonight against McDonald. His last start was a really good one against the Marlins going 7 innings and only giving up 1 run on 3 hits. Niese has had three excellent starts in a row without getting a win. He’s only given up 3 runs in 21 innings over that span. Expect to see Chris Carter back in the cleanup spot tonight after having some success personally and as a team last night.

Preview: Mets at Astros August 19, 2010

New York Mets (60-60) at Houston Astros (52-67) 8:05 pm

Pat Misch (0-1 1.50) vs Bud Norris (5-7 5.42)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: A win tonight would be huge for the Mets. Taking three out of four games in an NL road series is almost unthinkable. Misch pitched well in his first start against the Phillies but took a hard luck loss. Norris is in his second season with the Astros and has had some up’s and down’s this year. But the Astros have won the last four games he started. That’s saying something for one of the league’s worst teams.

Preview: Mets at Astros August 18, 2010

New York Mets (59-60) at Houston Astros (52-66) 8:05 pm

R.A. Dickey (8-5 2.43) vs Brett Myers (8-7 3.13)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: Hopefully, Dickey can keep the magic going from his 1-hit shutout of the Phillies in his last start. Myers has had a very good season and his last start against the Pirates was 7 innings as 1 run. But he has been hit a few times this year.

Preview: Mets at Astros August 17, 2010

New York Mets (59-59) at Houston Astros (51-66) 8:05 pm

Johan Santana (10-6 2.89) vs Nelson Figueroa (3-1 3.38)

TV: SNY  Radio: WFAN

What to watch: This should be a good one. Figueroa trashed the Mets after leaving the team after spring training and then getting waived by the Phillies landed in Houston. He’ll definitely be out for revenge. Santana has pitched two great games in a row including a 4-hit shutout against the Rockies in his last start.
