On Deck- August 15- Mets at Pirates [Game 1]
New York Mets (65-56 Road: 29-33) at Pittsburgh Pirates (55-66 Home: 33-28) 7:05pm
Mike Pelfrey (10-8 4.11) vs. Jason Davis (1-1 1.38)
What to watch: The Mets get to Pittsburgh riding a three game winning streak. Pelfrey hasn’t pitched well in 2 of his last 3 starts, both against the Marlins. I’d look for him to have a nice bounce back game against the Pirates.

Mets Complete Sweep Of Nationals 9-3
It’s still amazing to me that Oliver Perez has become a consistently good pitcher. He got another quality start in tonight going 6.2 innings for the win. He only gave up three runs on six hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.
Brian Schneider and Carlos Delgado both homered in the game. The Mets put together a nice rally in the ninth inning to add four insurance runs. That was key to reduce pressure on Aaron Heilman closing out the game.
The Mets complete the sweep in Washington and fly to Pittsburgh tonight for a four game series starting tomorrow night.

The 2009 Major League Baseball preliminary schedule came out today and Citi Field will open on April 14th with a Mets-Padres game. The Mets will open the season in Cincinnati on April 6th, then go to Florida for a three game series before coming home to open Citi Field.
I can’t wait!
Announcement- Mike And Mad Dog Show Is Done
Neil Best of Newsday is reporting that WFAN Radio announced tonight that Chris “Mad Dog” Russo is leaving WFAN. Mike Francesa will do the show on the Mets flagship station by himself for now after the 18 year partnership has ended.
“Mike and Chris pioneered the genre more than 18 years ago and have shaped the sports talk format into what it is today,” WFAN operations director Mark Chernoff said in a statement.
“As we embark on this next step in WFAN’s history, we wish Chris nothing but the best and look forward to all that Mike will do in a role in which he has excelled at for years.”
The report says that Chris Russo is expected to move to Sirius satellite radio.
Audio- August 14- Schneider and Coleman
Here’s some WFAN audio clips from today with Mets catcher Brian Schneider doing his weekly spot with Joe & Evan. Also, beat reporter Eddie Coleman checks in with his daily Mets report. There’s plenty of good news to talk about today with the Mets in a tie for first place with the Phillies.
