New York Mets (4-7) at St. Louis Cardinals (7-4) 8:05 pm
John Maine (0-1 13.50) vs. Adam Wainwright (2-0 1.20)

What to watch: The Mets and Cards play the rubber game of the series on national TV tonight. It’s a huge game for the Mets because they still haven’t won a series yet this season. It’s also a huge game for Maine. He’s been awful so far and is in serious danger of losing his spot in the rotation if he has another embarrassing outing on national TV. Wainwright has been fantastic in his first two starts this season. He’s been tremendous since he went into the Cardinals rotation in 2007 posting a 48-24 career record and 3.13 ERA.

They will win it because of a pitching staff I am just drooling all over. Omar Minaya, take note. This is a pitching staff. Watch the Mets pitching, including Johan Santana, get rocked by Pujols and Company. Watch the weak hitting Mets made to look silly by the Cardinals superb pitching staff. Watch a team come to play. A team that doesn’t believe in comebacks because they are up right from the start. Continue reading “2010 NL East Champs?”

As Heyman says, it’s unlikely that the Mets want two starting pitchers making #1 starter money. It’s not the right allocation of resources unless Halladay falls into their lap.
