We’ve heard some talk from Mets manager Jerry Manuel this spring about batting Luis Castillo in the leadoff spot instead of Jose Reyes. Now we’re starting to see that actually happen in spring games. Not that spring games mean too much, so we have to take it with a grain of salt. I’m curious to hear what your thoughts are on the topic. I find it hard to believe that Castillo could supplant Reyes as the Mets regular leadoff hitter.

Poll: Mets Starting Pitchers
There’s so much speculation right now about what the Mets are going to do in free agency for another starter, I decided to run a poll. Weigh in with your thoughts below.
Reader Poll Results: Mets Have Turned The Corner
Your votes are in… The verdict is overwhelming that the Mets have indeed turned the corner by a 75% to 25% vote. I believe that the Mets are definitely on the right track. I started to believe that when they were left on the field for walk off wins in St. Louis and again in Philadelphia last week, and came back to win the next day after both difficult losses.
I love what Jerry Manuel has done with the team. The players have certainly responded since Willie Randolph was fired proving that Omar Minaya made the right move. The firing itself was handled awkwardly, at best, but it got the job done. Let’s go Mets!
New Reader Poll: Have The Mets Turned The Corner?
I added a new poll to the site coming off the series victory in Philadelphia. Clearly, the Mets are playing a different brand of baseball over the last few weeks. But have the Mets turned the corner from the malaise that permeated the first two months of the season? Or is this a temporary success story?
Baseball Prospectus now has the Mets odds of making the postseason at 37.5%. That’s up 17.1% in the last seven days.
New Reader Poll: Who Should The Mets Fire?
Update June 17 11:00 AM EDT: Since the decision was made for us early this morning. I decided to take the poll down.
Since it appears to be imminent that someone is going to get fired. I’d like to get your take on who should get the axe. See the poll on the right side of the page. If you’re using a feed reader, visit the site to participate in the poll.
New Reader Poll: Are Mets Problems Fixed?
The Mets have gone 5-2 on their recent home stand since Willie Randolph met with the Wilpons and Omar Minaya. Jose Reyes is on base constantly, Ryan Church is back, Pedro is back, Carlos Beltran is killing the ball, and Moises Alou is coming back. But Carlos Delgado is still a light hitting corner infielder, Oliver Perez is still erratic, and I don’t even know what to say about Aaron Heilman. I guess you could say he’s been hit harder than a piñata this season.
The question for the poll is: Are the Mets early season problems “fixed”? It’s a complex situation broken down to a simple question. I’m curious to see what you think. The poll is on the right side of the page.
