Video: John Maine Angry After Being Pulled

John Maine was very upset hours after being removed from last night’s game after facing one batter on five pitches. Clearly, he and Jerry Manuel have a major difference of opinion on this.

Video: Jon Niese Injury Reaction

Here’s some video that was shot after yesterday’s game when Jon Niese left in the third inning with an apparent hamstring injury. He’s headed back to New York for an examination and I’ll be surprised if they let him make his next start. After the ugly hamstring injury he suffered last season, the Mets need to be smart with a good, young pitcher and put him on the DL for a couple of weeks to let him heal.

The video below is the post-game thoughts from Niese and Jerry Manuel.

Audio: Oliver Perez Meltdown Reaction

The situation with Oliver Perez has really become intolerable at this point. The Mets can’t keep trotting him out there every fifth day and expect to be blown out in 20% of their games. It’s hurting morale and it’s hurting the bullpen, not to mention the Mets spot in the NL East standings.

There’s been a lot of reaction this morning about Perez’ latest meltdown on the mound. He blamed the cold weather for his last stinker against the Giants but he didn’t have that excuse in Miami last night.

There’s been discussion of who should take Perez’ spot in the rotation. And discussion of the fact that we’re beyond the point of looking for Perez’ upside. Continue reading “Audio: Oliver Perez Meltdown Reaction”

Audio: Manuel, Feliciano Post Game May 5, 2010

Pedro Feliciano

It’s comical to hear Ed Coleman and Kevin Burkhardt asking Pedro Feliciano questions about giving up the game winning homer in extras today. What do they expect him to say? Cabrera hit the ball well and it went out. Enough said.

It’s got to be tough to stand there and answer questions about letting the team down in extra innings. But I guess that’s why they get paid the big bucks.

Audio- Feliciano 5/5/10

Jerry Manuel talks about Jason Bay and how cold he is. They’re going to keep running him out there even though he can’t hit the broad side of a barn right now. 0-12 in the Cincy series.

Report: Tony Bernazard Was Mets’ Scapegoat

Colorado Rockies vs New York Mets at Citi Field in New York

http://cdn.pis.picapp.com/IamProd/PicAppPIS/JavaScript/PisV4.jsThe Mets 2009 season was basically a season of misery on the field. And off the field it was a complete soap opera. The biggest story of the 92-loss season turned out to be the behavior and firing of Tony Bernazard as their VP of player development.

Among the accusations against Bernazard were:

  • He took his shirt off and challenged the Binghamton Mets to a fight
  • He got into an argument with Francisco Rodriguez
  • He publicly yelled at a Mets employee when he didn’t get the seat that he wanted at a game

In the strangest firing of all time, Omar Minaya announced the firing last July 27 and then blamed it on Daily News writer Adam Rubin and his jealous desire to work for the Mets. Or something like that. It was difficult to understand exactly what Minaya was implying. Continue reading “Report: Tony Bernazard Was Mets’ Scapegoat”

Video: Jose Reyes on Mets-Cardinals 20 Inning Game

There are a lot of reactions coming in from last night’s 20 inning marathon game. I’ll be getting those reactions up throughout the morning. Whenever Fox Sports has a Saturday game for the Mets, there’s always a lot of video to post.

Here’s some video from Jose Reyes after the game with Ken Rosenthal talking about the fatigue of playing in such a long game. He also asks if the Mets bench was talking about how they had to get some hits off the Cardinals position players that were pitching. It’s a good, short interview.
