I was checking out this video from Fox Sports of MLB players’ offseason memories from this year to see if they had any Mets in it. The only one is Jeff Francoeur who, as you’d expect, took a golfing vacation with his family to Scotland. Check it out.

This is a little off topic for the Mets blog. But I like the commercial that Evan Longoria did for New Era caps. It combines some of my favorite elements: a great player, New Era caps, and a parody of the Bourne movies (which I love). Check it out below.
Here’s the annual video preview of the National League East from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. It’s disappointing that the Mets are an afterthought for Rosenthal this year. He lists the Phillies as the early leader and the Braves as a contender. Even the Marlins are mentioned.
Maybe it’s good for the Mets to go into the season without the high expectations of the mainstream media like they did in 2009. We’ll see…

I thought it was a day to post some good news about the Mets. After the negative news about Dwight Gooden getting arrested again today, we need something positive to end the day on. That’s where Jose Reyes comes in, returning to spring training possibly in time to play on opening day.
Brian Costa of NJ.com put up some video of Reyes taking batting practice from the right side with Jerry Manuel watching carefully. The background noise is pretty annoying but it’s good to see Reyes swinging the bat again after two weeks away from the team with a thyroid problem.

In this video we talk about our predictions for the Mets fate in the 2010 season. In some senses, I’m the typical fan. I’m optimistic to begin every season that things will go perfectly and the Mets will land in the playoffs somehow. Then at some point during the season, my hopes are dashed and the remaining games become an exercise in just getting to the finish line, often limping… literally.
